LAW ENFORCEMENT
metaAIR’s premium holographic laser protective films offer best-in-class laser protection, helping to maintain mission critical situational awareness. metaAIR’s unique holographic nanomaterial built on flexible polymer film is compatible with transparent ballistic shields and lenses to block green laser light emissions by reflecting light. Compared to other dye-based lenses on the market, metaAIR films allow exceptional color recognition, and offer superior visible light transmission and optical filtering combined.
metaAIR applications can be found below.
HELICOPTER PILOTS & CREW
One challenge the aviation industry faces today is the misuse of portable handheld lasers, and bright laser lights aimed at helicopters during the night. These bright lights can interfere with a pilot’s vision. The sudden loss of vision from a laser pointer’s illumination can be disorienting, debilitating, and hazardous to pilots. metaAIR film for helicopter pilots and crews reduces the intensity of visible laser light (glare) while offering the ultimate combination of transparency, and color fidelity. metaAIR is color balanced for optimal comprehension of cockpit instruments, airport runway lights, and is also compatible with Night Vision Goggles (NVGs).

RIOT POLICE
Handheld lasers are being illegally used in many jurisdictions around the world to distract, temporarily flash-blind law enforcement, or to gain attention. metaAIR addresses these hazards by offering the following laser glare protection solutions for police:
-
Self-adhesive metaAIR film for police riot visors.
-
Self-adhesive metaAIR film for handheld ballistic riot shields.

metaAIR film can prevent laser dazzling and permanent damage of electro-optical sensors such as CCTV security cameras, night vision technology, and lidars. Similar to the human eye’s retina, sensors are extremely susceptible to damage from lasers. Lasers emit concentrated beams of light, which can heat up sensitive surfaces and cause damage. Laser protection filters can be applied directly to the outer lens of sensors to protect up to optical density five while still enabling high transparency and color balanced images. Other laser protection products primarily use dyes which significantly reduce transparency and night vision.
